Whole Chicken in the CrockPot

August 12, 2011

With the heat I did not want the oven on for 2 or so hours to cook a whole chicken. So, in the crock pot it went.

Whole Chicken in the CrockPot

  • 1 whole chicken mine was @ 4.5 lbs
  • 1 small carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • Salt, pepper and any spices you want extra ( I used some extra garlic powder)

Directions:

Cut up onions, carrots and garlic and layer on the bottom

Rinse chicken and place breast side down into crock pot. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and other spices.

Cover and allow to cook 12-14 hours on low. I did it overnight and it was moist and flavor full.

You can retain the  liquids as stock.

You can use the chicken any way you want now. It will make great tacos or BBQ chicken.
